This painting depicts a clothless woman standing in water, a pond perhaps. A tranquil water mass sea is in the background for the cloth-less female painting. The less detailed sky bright indicating the sun would be somewhere in horizon. There are a few lightly detailed clouds in the sky, less lighted than the water surface. Invisible dark lines of cloth-less figure prominently separate the female figure from blue and green water.

Here the woman is not only the object to look at. Her figures is not shown on the frame merely for depiction of the beautiful skin and curvy part of a female body. In this painting the artists has tried to show the woman doing some serious act, perhaps thinking about her life and the events to come.

The academic style of painting had originated to rebel against the set standard by the academies itself, but later it became an individual style of painting boast many master artists as its and pioneers and followers. Also known as historicism style of painting, painters like Bouguereau, Suzor-Coté, Thomas Couture, and Hans Makart were the great contributors to such paintings.
